Asus has a lot going on with regards to their Zenfone series. The Zenfone 3 Zoom just launched with its dual lens rear camera and 5,000mAh battery. The Zenfone AR just launched in Taiwan and is set for a global release in the next number of days. The Zenfone AR is the world’s first smartphone that is Dreamdream and Tango enabled. It also packs in pretty much every premium spec available, although it doesn’t have the newest Snapdragon 835 processor.
So the Zenfone 4? Yes, that too. Asus did suggest a late July unveiling and that seems on track, at least for the Asia markets first. There is a bit of a time crunch for Asus because of supply shortages they had to delay their Zenfone 4 launch and the Zenfone 3 Zoom and Zenfone AR are complicating matters. North America will be waiting a while for the Zenfone 4 because usually Asia gets the first release availability and North America is often a month or months after that.
So there has been a substantial leak on the models that are coming from Asus. Here they are:
- Zenfone 4 Max
- Zenfone 4 Selfie
- Zenfone 4
- Zenfone 4 Pro
- Zenfone 4V (Verizon exclusive)
We can assume what the Zenfone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Selfie bring to the table. Pretty much self explanatory. The Zenfone 4 is going to be more of a mid ranged phone and the Pro is going to be the most premium (expensive) offering of the bunch. The Zenfone 4 Pro is likely to have every possible top end piece of hardware inside and don’t be surprised if Asus went for some waterproofing which likely means the removal of the headphone jack. Asus CEO Jerry Shen has hinted as much over the past couple of months.
Stay tuned for more details and an official announcement from Asus!
