It’s quite clear that the growing phablet market is here to stay. When you see Google jumping into the segment along with Apple, then you know something is right. Phablet? Yes, the tablet that’s a phone. Get it? It’s a smartphone greater than 5-inches.
Is A 6-Inch Phone Too Big For You?
The Nexus 6 is the biggest smartphone phablet that you can get, unless you consider the Asus fonepad 7 (7-inch phone) a phablet. In terms of mainstream mobile devices, Google is really stretching the limits. Samsung and their Note phablet really proved that the market and demand exists out there. With the 5.7-inch Note 4 on the market just now and the 5.5-inch Apple iPhone 6 Plus, Google brings the 5.9-inch Motorola built Nexus 6 to the marketplace. There are also phablet offerings from HTC, LG and Huawei, but the three I’m focused on in this article will be the best of the bunch.
So if you can’t imagine a big phone, take some hands-on experiences from people who know tech and have handled a great number of devices. Take my friend for example who is an owner of the Galaxy Note 3. My friend says he will never go to a smaller phone. Many of tech journalists who have delved into the phablet have come back with rave reviews. Women with small hands or men with big hands, it doesn’t seem to matter. Don’t let the size scare you. Because these are media consuming devices, gaming devices and sometimes phones, the reality is that bigger text and more of a web page on your device is logical. It’s just a question of that sweet spot. When you’re talking about a big money investment like a phablet, you want to be sure before you make a decision to buy.
